Gagarin II

Exterior restoration of Gagarin II, designed by Marcel Breuer and located in Litchfield, CT. Exterior window and woodwork restoration by MUECKE Design & Construction.

Exterior restoration of historic Marcel Breuer House, “Gagarin II.”

MUECKE Design & Construction executed the removal and replacement of original windows and stops with Low E Glass Insulated Units to produce crystal clear views of the exterior landscape from within the living space. 

Additional restoration work by MD&C includes the sanding and oiling of the structure’s solid Koa wood eaves to enhance the natural beauty, increase the longevity, and improve resilience to weather and moisture for this important historic home. 

Project received a Design Citation of Merit as a part of the 2022 Modernism in America Awards given by Docomomo US.
